OBITUARY.
MR. W, N. STURGES The death of Mr. William Nathaniel Sturges, aged 86, occurred in the Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, on Sunday. Born in Bedfordshire, England, Mr. Sturges came to New Zealand in the ship Egmont in 1860 After working ju Auckland lie went to the Thames gold fields and later became one of the earliest settlers at Pukerimu, in the Wsikatc. He haid the distinction of taking one of the first wheeled vehicles into the Vvaikato, and also of being one of the first settlers to instal milking machines. Mr. Sturges was one of the promoters and one of the first directors of the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company, Limited, and also of the New Zealand Co-opeiativa Dairy Association, Limited. For over 53 years he held *'>« office of elder so t fie Presbyterian Congregation at Te Awarrutu. Jietiring from active work, he settled for a few years at Rukuhia and in 1920 removed to Spsom, He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. S. J. 1 far butt, Mrs, H, Becker leg, Mrs. J. A, Steele, Mrs. Wilfrid Harbutt, and Miss A. It, Sturges, and one son, M J- G, Sturges.
