The Wet ,Umbrella should always be carefully attended to, or it will last a very short time. When an umbrella is very wet, open it and wipe with a nice soft cloth, then closa it and stand it on the handle to drain. If drained point downwards the water trickles down and settles in the narrow end of tlis silk, so rotting it and rusting the wires. When the umbrella is left open to dry, the silk is very apt to get stretched and spoiled. Save the Scraping of Flour from the Pastry.—Dry this in the oven, put it in the dredger, and use When roasting meat; it will give better flavour and appearance than ordinary flour. A Stale Loaf.—-If the loa,f has becomo dry, but is still wholesome, dip it into a bowl of water for three minutes;-let it stand for half-an-hour for the moisture to penetrate, then bake it in a steady oven. This is best eaten hot. To Clean a Black Felt Hat.—Take a tablespoonful of strong ammonia and add to it the same quantity of boiling water. Brush the hat free of dust, and then clean the surfaco with tho- ammonia, applied with a flannel, rubbing it thoroughly. Soot Stains.—The stain should be covered with salt, bran or sawdust, and well brushed, repeating the process until all sign of the soot has disappeared. It should on no account be wet cleaned. Grease marks on leather may be obliterated by covering tho stain with French chalk and rubbing it in, then leaving tho chalk on the spot for 24 hours. A deep stain may need two applications. Mosquito Bites are rendered less irritable if liquid ammonia is applied immediately to tho spot. \ ■
