CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. AUCKLAND WINTER SHOW. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COHRESPONDENT ' PUKEKOHE, Thursday. The Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce met last evening, the president, Mr." F. A. Hosking, presiding. The Waiuku Chamber advised that the half-yearly conference of chambers in the Franklin district would be held this month. Messrs. Hosking, H. Curd, S. P. Day, 0. Heerdegen and A. F. Brown were deputed to attend on behalf of the Pukekohe chamber. It was decided to forward remits as follow :—That each chamber assist in the organisation of the Franklin Court at the Auckland Winter Show; that the attention of the Government be drawn to the effect of the Asiatic influx to the Franklin district, and the Government bo asked to deal with the problem; that the Government bo asked to have all the railway Btations and railway houses in the Franklin district lighted by electricity where electric power was available. Messrs. H. Burrows, Heerdegen, Curd, W. J. Short, and H. H. Pattle were appointed to represent the Pukekohe Chamber on the organising committee for the Franklin court at the Winter Show. It was decided to request the Pukekohe Borough Council, before again submitting sewerage loan proposals to the ratepayers, to affirm the principle of letting the work in one or more large contracts, the number not to exceed three. It was stated that if contracts were let for the work, ratepayers would know whether or not it could be completed within the amount of the loan. Mr. A. W. Wellsted, commercial representative of the Railway Department, who was present, said the question of stopping a Main Trunk express each way at Pukekohe daily, was still under consideration.
