WAIKATO WINTER SHOW.
GREAT DISPLAYS PROMISED, RECORD DAIRYING ENTRIES. [BX TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 HAMILTON. Thursday. The months of organising work that precede each show held under the auspices of tho Waikato Winter Show Association have already borne fruit, although tho show does not open until May 31. Entries in 1 the dairy section total 950, about 50 more than last year's total, or more than twice as many recieved for any other winter show in New Zealand. Applications for space already exceed the number of stands available. A special feature of this year's fixture will be the art section. A strong committee has been appointed to arrange the details, and it has been assured of support from artists throughout the province. The concert hall will be transformed into an art gallery, and will be retained exclusively for this purpose throughout the show. Climatic conditions in the Waikato have been particularly favourable for the growth of roots this season, and it is expected that the root section at the show will be the finest seen in New Zealand. The Agricultural Department, acting, in conjunction with the New Zealand Farmers' Union, intends to make an instructional exhibit of various kinds of fodder, each variety being placarded with details of the conditions under which it was grown.
As an increase in the number of home industries exhibits is expected, an extension is being provided in tho space usually allotted to this department. The secretary, Mr. W. H. Paul, is arranging for a novel scheme for decorating and lighting the front of the show buildings this year, and expects to give the building a gay and attractive appearance.
