THE GAULFIELD MEETING. WARANTON WINS THE STAKES. (Received Feb. 20, 5.30 p.m.) A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE. Feb. 20. The Victorian Amateur Turf CluVs meeting was concluded yesterday. The following was the result of the leading event:— CAULFIELD FUTURITY STAKES. Of £3500: for two-year-olds and. upwards; weight-for-ago with penalties and allowances; 7 fur. WARANTON. R. and G- Chaffey's b g. aged, by St. Anton—Warrain. 9.8, including 101b penalty 1 VALICARE. P. Osborne's b m, 4yrs, 10.1, including 181b penalty . . . . 2 FUJI SAN, A. J._ Matthews' b g, syrs, 9.13, including lolb penalty .. 3 Nine starters. Waranton challenged Valicare at the bottom of the straight, but the New South Wales mare had a slight advantage at the distance. Waranton persistently stuck to his task and gradually wearing Valicare down took command a short distance from the post and won by a long neck. Time, lm 26is. Manfred was left at the post.
