TITIRANGI GOLF LINKS.

SCHEME OF IMPROVEMENTS. THE PROPOSALS ADOPTED. : MONEY" FROM THE ART UNION. The Maungakiekie Golf Club decided last evening to rescind the resolution passed at the last annual meeting adhering to the present lay-out of the Titirangi course, and to substitute the scheme recommended by Dr. A. Mackenzie, the noted English golf course architect. Mr. G. L. Taylor, who presided, said the committee of the club was unanimous that the scheme should bs put into effect and it wanted authority to go ahead with it. He urged members to give the com'mittee every encouragement in carrying the work through successfully.

In reply to a question, Mr. Taylor said the club had benefited to the extent of £4700 as the result of the recent art union. Of this, £2500 had gone to pay off debts and £9OO had been expended in machinery, leaving between £IOOO and £2OOO 4o be expanded on the course. Mr. A. M. Goulding moved as a recommendation to the committee that Mr. Redhead should be appointed to supervise the carrying out of Dr. Mackenzie's scheme at a fee not exceding £IOO, and subject to supervision j that Mr. W. H. Cooke be appointed to take charge of the alterations. Mr.*' Goulding said Mr. Redhead had recently arrived from England and had considerable experience in laying out golf courses. He had effected improvements to the Rotorua course with most successful results and was now working on the Middlemqp course. Mr. Taylor said the committee had approached Dr. Mackenzie as to how the work was to be carried out, and he had advised the club not to engage the services of a professional. He had pointed out that there were at least two men in the club who would be capable of supervising'the work.

After discussion the recommendation to the committee was carried by a bare majority.
