A. youth., Harold Elsraore, aged 17, - -ho resided with his parents at Newman, was drowned in the Makakahi River yesterday afternoon. While %radir;g he slipped on a ledge into a hole 12ft deep. He could not swim. The lad's father rushed to his assistance but could not retain a hold on account of his son's struggles, and the boy sank. 'The body was recovered half an hour later.
