TE AWAMUTU POWER.

THE RENEWAL OF FUSES. DANGER IN AMATEUR WORK. [BI TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU. Friday. At a meeting of the Te Awamutu Electric-Power Board the inspector reported that the cause of consumers' pole fuses blowing out lately was traced to the switchboard fuse, which was far too heavy for the loads. The opinion was expressed that consumers were renewing their own fuses with unsuitable wire. The board decided to issue a warning against this practice. It was. decided to warn farmers against allowing stock to rub against service poles erected in paddocks, as it caused wires to break, involving danger to life. Instances were given of similar happenings in other districts. At Tatuanui recently several cows were electrocuted through a wire being broken by cattle rubbing against the sendee poles. Farmers are again to be asked to earth their fence wires and thereby minimise the danger from fallen power lines. It was stated that since the board issued instructions how to. do the work only about a dozen farmers had taken advantage of the opportunity, the remainder contenting themselves with the old arrangement, preferring to take the risk of fatalities.

The revenue for November last was £2195, as against £1544 for November, 1925.
