CONSTITUTION OF COUNCIL. THE FIVE ELECTIVE MEMBERS. [l3 Y TSLE (flt.ir H. —'OWN ©QBEESPONDENT. ] ELLINGTON, Thursday. The legislative machinery erected last session as. a step toward the reconstruction of the University of New Zealand was set in motion to-day by the announcement of the regulations governing the election oi five members of the ccuncil of the university, which will tike the place of the Senate. These five members will repm>ent the general court of convocation. All the other member;: oif the council will be appointed. January 21 has been fixed as the date for the election. The electoral roll will be the register of members oi" the district courts "of convocation. Nominations will close on January 10 and preferential voting will be adopted. The Government has fixed February 1 as the date for the constitution of the council, which will bold its first meeting at the Auckland University College on February 16.
