BRIXTON ROAD SCHOOL.
SUCCESSFUL CARNIVAL. The Queen Carnival organised by parents and residents of Brixton Road for the purpose of raising funds to put the school grounds into order was concluded on Wednesday evening. Great enthusiasm has been shown by the district committees and approximately £460 has been raised, on which a £ for £ subsidy from the Education Department will be applied for,, The result of the sis weeks compaign is regarded as highly satisfactory. As a result of the voting, the South district queen, Miss Joyce Whyte, has been declared queen of the carnival, the remaining candidates being in the following order: —North district, Miss Doris Eartnoll, second; West district, Miss Jean Reeves, third; and East district, Miss Colleen Deery, fourth. As chairman of the carnival committee, Mr A. W Brockie rendered yeomen service and much of the success achieved has been due to his untiring efforts. Mr P J Hook, headmaster of the school, and his staff, also worked assiduously throughout tile campaign.
