RAILWAY EXCURSIONS.
SECOND TRIP TO WAITOMO.
FEWER PASSENGERS YESTERDAY.
The second of the special excursion trains to Waitomo carried 120 passengerit when it left Auckland at 8.50 yesterday morning. This number represents a little less than half the number of passengers who visited Waitomo on thfe first excursion train a fortnight ago. The excursionists were conveyed to the caves from Hangatiki by motor-bus. On return last evening several of the passengers expressed satisfaction at the transport and catering arrangements. The decreased patronage is attributed to
the approach of the holidays. At the present time people are making plans for the holidays and beyond occasional tourists, few would be attracted to a one-Jay trip to Waitomo during Christmas and New Year weeks. It ;s understood that tha excursion run yesterday will be the last this year. The service will be continued in February. FEAMTON*BOTORUA TRIP, TWO HUNDRED PASSENGERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON, Sunday. About 200 passengers left Franiictori for Kotorua on the special excursion train to-day. j
