SANDERS CUP CONTESTS.

THE SECOND TEST RACE. FURTHER SUCCESS FOR RONA. IN THE LEAD ALL THE WAY. The second of the series of trial races to decide the Auckland challenger for the Sanders Cup was sailed on Saturday afternoon and resulted in a win for Rona. The boats chosen for tho race were Rona (S. Chatfield), Nyria (E. Swinnerton) and Joan (G. Bailey). The weather conditions were ideal for yachting, a steady breeze from the north blowing all the afternoon. The course was from starting lino off the King's Wharf, thence round the Resolution buoy, round Sandspit beacon, back to King's Wharf. This gave the boats a lead to Resolution buoy, a beat to the Sandspit beacon, and a spinnaker run back to the starting line. On the fall of the last flag Joan crossed the lino about a length clear of Rona, which was about half a length in front of Nyria. The boats made a very pretty picture as they all stood for Resolution and before thej' had gone very far Rona passed Joan, and onco in that position she was never headed. Nyria also replaced Joan before the Resolution buoy was reached and from this out they never altered their positions. Only one round of . the course was sailed, the finish being 'timed as follow:—Rona, 3h 18m 50s; Nyria, 3h 19m 235; Joan, 3h 20m 2s: Rona thus won by 53 seconds. She also Won the Akarana Yacht Club's race fo!f the Jellicoe boats, which was sailed in con junction..with the trial race. Rona's regular skipper, Mr. A. E. Matthews, was unable to sail her through illness, and Mr. Stan Chatfield, one of her crew, had charge of the tiller. WINIFRED FOE OTAGO. FIVE OUT OF SIX TRIALS.
