CABINET APPROVES CONTRACTS.

Several important contracts in connection with the Lake Waikaremoana hydroelectric development scheme were approved by Cabinet this week, according to an announcement made by the Minister of Public Works, Hon. K. S. Williams, to-day. The successful tenderers were as follow : —Section 12—Pipe lines: Duncdin Engineering and Steel Company, Ltd., £57,869 4s. Section 13 —Generators: Metropolitan Vickers Electrical Company, Ltd., £29,242; turbines: Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitwortb Company, Ltd., £21,666. Section 14-—lndoor control geai and switchgoar: Cory, Wright and Salmon, en behalf of the English Electric Company, Ltd., £5424. Section 17— 110.000-volt, transformers: Metropolitan Vickers Electrical Company, Ltd., £15,734.
