In reply to the criticism which the decision to provide foreign matches for British naval canteens has aroused Lieu-tenant-Colonel C. Fraser, of the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes, which control the canteens, said recently: "There is no question of foreign matches being substituted for British matches. Everyone who wants to buy British matches will be able to buy them. At a meeting with men of the Kavy, our representatives pointed out that the foreign match was an inferior article, but as there was a wish on the part of a considerable number of men oi the Navv thai a cheaper match should be available if required we met their request."
