WAITEMATA POWER BOARD.
RESIDENT ENGINEER WANTED, APPLICATIONS TO BE SOUGHT. Th? Waitemata Electric Power . Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. *T. W. Hayden, presiding. As the consulting* engineers, Mesara. Gauvain and McLeod, will shortly complete the services for which they were engaged when the board commenced operations, it waa decided to call for ftpplications in the four centres of the Dominion for a rosident engineer at a commencing salary of £6OO. Duties will commence not later than April 1. The Public Works Department advised that the Order-in-Council giving tho borough of Devonport representation on the board had been forwarded for signature. " The date of the election had now been fixed for December 10, and thr#s Devonport representatives were entitled to election. The Taupaki Ratepayers' Association fomplained of the "half-hearted" way In ■which the board hal canvassed the district. It disagreed with the view tbM the district would be an unpayable proposition to the board. While not admitting that the canvass had been improperly made, the board agreed that the chairman should meet tho association as soon as it had prepared "he necessary information. The erection of service lines in the country districts was also in process of drying out tho transformers for the North Shore had been in operation at Henderson for some time, and a number had been moved to Fakapona in lead in ess for connecting. It had bean decided to erect nine sub-stations in I/evonport and extend certain portions of the 11.000-volt lines.
