MOUNT EDEN SERVICE.
COMPLAINT IN DISTRICT. CRITICISM OF ARRANGEMENTS. A criticism of the traffic arrangements made by the Auckland City Council in the Mount Eden borough was presented to the Borough Council at its meeting last evening. The traffic inspector said that the districts beyond the Mount Eden and Dominion Road termini were inadequately catered for and that the bus services badly needed augumenting. Trams often arrived at the termim within a minute of buses leaving, and passengers for the outlying districts had either to wait or to walk. The same thing occurred when intending passengers in outlying districts missed a bus by seconds. This was causing general dissatisfaction, and would inevitably lead to joint ownership of motor-cars and buses, and add to the congestion on the roads. The difficulty in getting to and from the city would not encourage • people to settle in the outer districts to the same extent u they had been doing. " I think that we should follow up this report and get the City Council to move in the matter," said Sir. R. McK. Morrison. " I move that a sub-committee be appointed to the city authorities on the matter. Life is hardly worth living for soma of the councillors in the outer parts of the borough." Mr. J. Smith: What we need is trams right to the borough boundary. Until then an adequate service with feeder buses is imperative. A sub-comittee consisting of Messrs. J. M. Melville, W. G. Lange and R. McK. Morrison' was appointed to interview the City Council.
