CONTROLLING BODY.
ADVOCACY OF A BOARD. DISTRICT REPRESENTATION. COMMITTEE TO ACT MEANWHILE. The formation of a transport, board to deal witn all matters connected with transport facilities was again advocated by the Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. E. H. Potter, at a meeting of the Borough Council last evening. " The importance of the formation of a transport board cannot . be over-esti-mated." he said, " and the matter should not be delayed. Allowing that the railway service is sufficient to meet the requirements of a restricted area, there are very many that must be served by an up-t-o-date transport system, both for passengers and goods. Those residing some distance from the railway must have transport facilities, and these advantages can only receive proper consideration by a board representative of the whole traffic district ' In the meantime I would suggest that a transport committee be formed until the Act is amended, to make recommendation on all matter of transport facilities. The iocal authorities affected would then have nn opportunity of placing their particular requirements before the committee. Motor service at present operating and proposed service could be considered and assisted, and representation made to licensing committee or appeal board." It was decided to make the matter a remit to the forthcoming conference of the Local Bodies' Association.
