CAREER OF DISHONESTY.
" AN EXTRAORDINARY CASE."
[I!Y TELEGKAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WELLIY3TON, Monuay.
On a charge of forging and uttering Joseph Michael McGrath, aged 42, an electrician, appeared before the Chief Justice for sentence in the Supreme Court to-day. His Honor remarked that it was a rather extraordinary case. For a time the prisoner had been working and doing well, being a decent citizen. Then for some years he lapsed into a career of drinking and dishonesty, nineteen convictions being registered against him. A sentence of two years' imprisonment with hard labour was imposed.
