MATAMATA TOWN ROADS.
IMPORTANT WORK IN HAND. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] MATAMATA, Wednesday. The new Matamata Town Board is actively following up the plans put in hand by the old board for streets improvement. One of the main thoroughfares, Tower Road, is shortly to be reconstructed on the boulevard principle, with double metal tracks for a certain distance and grass and shrubbery plots in the centre. The town district portion of the WaitoaTaupo main highway is to be reconstructed, uniformly with the Matainata County roading on both sides of the boundarv. Burwood Road also is to be metalled. The county engineer (Mr. M. E. Fitzgerald), has the plans well forward, and a start on the work is expected to' be made very shortly.
