CEREMONY IN ROME.

; ♦ CROSS FROM GIZTHSEMANE. ERECTION IN COLISEUM. Times. , LONDON, Oct. 05. The Rome correspondent of the Times says a picturesque ceremony accompanied the conveyance of a giant cross, constructed from an olive tree cut down in the Garden of Gethsemane. It is to be erected in the Coliseum to replace the cross commemorating the Christian martyrs, which was removed in 1874, owing to archaeological, enthusiasm and an ti-clericalism. Crowds of people formed a procession to the Coliseum, which was illuminated. They sang the Te Deum as the cross was laid on a bed of roses preparatory to its installation on the original base which has been discovered again.
