FATALITIES ON STREETS.
NEGLIGENT DRIVING CHARGES FEWER CASES IN COURT. While expressing gratification at the reduction in the number of charges of negligent motor driving from which death resulted, Mr. Justice Herdman, in his charge to the grand jury at the Supreme Court yesterday, urged on motorists and the public generally the need to exercise caution in thoroughfares. His Honor said he was pleased to note there were but two cases before the Court this session, compared with the usual four or five. "In these days, when cars are used to such an extent, and when people use these concrete road-i so much, motorists owe a duty to tho community to exercise the greatest pre* mtion," he said. He added that pedestrians, too, should be careful, but there was a .-pedal responsibility on the drivers of vehicles. If they failed in this duty they should be charged and found guilty, and, if found guilty, punished.
