In an appeal to the mineowners and the miners yesterday to cease fighting, the Home Secretary, Sir William JoynsonHicks, said: " Honour is satisfied on both sides. Economic facts, not greed on either side, started tho struggle. It is now time that both sides appreciated the sufferings of the community," CLASH WITH POLICE. STRIKERS IN LANCASHIRE. CASUALTIES XND ARRESTS. (Received 1.5 a.m.) Sun. LONDON. Oct. 14. Two thousand idle miners came into conflict with the police at Pemberton, Lancashire, where 400 men had resumed work on Monday. Tho strikers refused to disperse and the police charged them, using their batons. Several of the demonstrators were injured. Many arrests were made.
