MOTORING MISHAPS
FOUR AT WHANGAREI. SLIGHT INJURIES SUSTAINED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI. Monday. A service car driven by Mr. E. D. Allott, on the Mangakahia Road on Saturday night, ran into a culvert and overturned. Mr. Allott swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle and, being unable to discern a small culvert, the car ran over its edge. Although the culvert was only about 3ft. deep, the vehicle turned completely over. The driver and passengers had a fortunate escape, sustaining no injury. The, car sustained littlo damage. A postal officer, Mr. T. E. G. Davis, was knocked down by a bread van on Saturday morning at the corner of Bank and Dent Streets. He escaped with slight injuries to his face and arms. A large motor-bus and a car went off the Whangarei to Onerahi road when proceeding to the port to catch the special steamer. Both vehicles ran into ditches, but no damage was done to them.
