THAMES NOTES.
MAILS FOR THORNTONS BAY. [by telegraph, —own correspondent.] THAMES, 'Friday. The Postal Department announces the opening of a post office at Thornton's Bay,, in conjunction with the telephone bureau already established. ■ Residents of Thornton's Bay who wish their correspondence promptly delivered are requested by the post office officials to have their letters addressed to "Thornton's Bay," and not merely to "Thornton," which is the name of a .settlement in another , part of the electorate. Owing to his acceptance of a post on the administrative staff of the Thames County Council, Mr. D. Mackay automatically becomes ineligible to sit on the Licensing Committee. The appointment of a successor is made by the Government. . A special meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council will be held next Friday to consider the chairman's county roa'ding and bridging scheme, and also to discuss matters in connection with rating.
