MERCER ROAD UNDER WATER THE RIVER STILL RISING. According to information received last evening from the service officer of tho Auckland Automobile Association the Waikato River at Mercer has risen about 2ft. Three-quarters of a mile of road is. under water. Motorists leaving for tho South are advised to travel to Hamilton via Pokeno ana PaeiOa. This road is stated to bo passable with tho use of chains and tho are running to time-table. The weather at Mercer is squally and the river is still rising. Considerable inconvenience is being caused to the Roose Shipping Company by the holding up of its steamers Rawhiti and IJLanawai, which are unable til pass under the bridge at Rangiriri, Fortunately the Manawai was kbova the bridge when the water rose, and i 3 maintaining communication between Mercer and Port Waikato.
