DEPUTIES' SALARIES.

HIGHER RATE PROPOSED. FINANCE COMMISSION'S VOTE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) PARIS. July 30. The Premier and Finance Minister, M. Poincare, was aghast when a proposal was made by the Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies to increase the salaries of deputies from 27.000 france a year to 45,000. The Commission voted 22 to 2 in favour of the increase, which was incorporated in the Fiscal Bill. This was carried by 19 votes to 13 and will be presented to the Chamber probably on Saturday. M. Poincare resisted the amendments. He said: "It is all or nothing. One tax is as obnoxious as another. All taxes are obnoxious." The Fiscal Bill, said M. Poincare, was only a preface to his measures. He intended to proceed with these in stages. The Premier promised that his plans for the stabilisation of the franc would be ready by October.
