IRON TRADE PACT.
INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS. BRITAIN STANDS ALOOF. Sun. LONDON. July 29. An iron trade pact will be signed on August 12 on behalf of Germany. France, Belgium, Luxemburg and the Saar. Britain is not to be included in the signatories owing to difficulties in regard to supplying a quota and to the reluctance of Britain to enter into international trade cartels. Continental steel producers are not perturbed. They do not regard British steel as a serious rival. The pact will entail an eventual increase of 30 per cent, in prices. The German press is exultant over the conclusion of the pact.
