CHAMPION RUNNER.
THE TOUR OF R. A. ROSE. [BY telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON. Friday The New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association has arranged through the Prime Minister to cable the High Commissioner, requesting him to communicate with Mr. J. McHolm, and convey instructions from the New Zealand Ansa teur Athletic Association to retain Rose on the Continent beyond the proposed date of return if he shows indications of regaining his best form, and further opportunities of competing are open. Mr. Wilton, of the council, informed a reporter to-day that Mr. McHolm had been instructed to advise the council of Rose's progress and movements each week-end ,by cable, in order that acute public interest might be satisfied. NURMI OFFERS A RACE. OSLO ON AUGUST 28. A. and N.Z. LONDON, July 29. The Finnish champion runner, Nurmi, has informed Sir James Allen that he cannot meet R. A. Rose, the New Zealander, before August 15, but that he is willing to race him at the International Athletic meeting to be held at Oslo on August 28.
