POSSESSION OF OPIUM.
INDIAN TO PAY £25 FINE. [by telegraph.—press association:] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Haran Gopal, an Indian fruiterer, who landed in Wellington from the Marama yesterday, pleaded guilty at the Magistrate's Court to-day to being in possession of prohibited goods. When his baggage was searched, the customs officer found 4jlb of solid opium, valued at £250. in a pillow. A fine of £25 was imposed. Vasan Bhika, who was similarly charged, was remanded till to-morrow.
