FUNCTIONS OF THE SCHOOLS.
POLICY QUESTION INVOLVED,

Recently Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P., on behalf: of 'a conference of Canterbury members of Parliament, made representations in regard to the need for extensions in connection with the, Christchurch Technical • College. Mr. Sullivan has now received a reply from the Minister of Education, Hon. R. A. Wright, who states that as soon as possible the proper objective and functions of technical schools, and particularly technical . day schools, will be considered "by the. department. Mr. Wright adds that as soon as this policy is "fixed it can be decided what the relation of the junior high school courses will have to existing institutions.. It will also make*possible a proper consideration of'-the applications for . additions to the largest existing technical day school or in the alternative the establishment of a second technical • sphool. • '
