FEWER HUMAN LIVES TAKEN. MANY FATAL SNAKE-BITES. Sun. DELHI. July 18. The toll of human life taken by . wild animals in India is decreasing. The total in 1925 was 1974, as against 2587 in 1924. Tigers were responsible for 974 deaths, leopards for 191, wolves for 265, bSars for 82, elephants for 87, hyenas for 6. There were 19,867 deaths from snakebites in the past year.
