AEROPLANE CONSTRUCTION. REMARKABLE NEW MATERIAL. A. ted N.Z. LONDON. July IG. Details have been published of a British discovery of electrolytic beryllium. This is said to he likely to revolutionise the construction of aeroplanes by enabling them to ,be welded instead of being ri vetted. The new material is derived from an alloy of beryl and quartz. It is almost as light as paper, but as strong as iron, yet elastic and durable. Dr. Rosenhain's research work has brought beryllium within two per rent, of perfection. It is far in advauce of any German dis9overy.
