PLOTTERS EXECUTED.
CONSPIRACY IN TURKEY. A REVOLTING SPECTACLE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July IG. Fifteen men, who were condemned to death for participating in a plot to assassinate the president of Turkey, jvemal Pasha, were executed at Smyrna. The correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says the spectacle was a revolting one. The unfortunate men were paraded through the streets clad only in white shirts. They were taken to various gallows. The climax of horror was reached at the execution of Chukri Bey. The hangman's rope broke under the a ictim s weight and he fell to the ground. He continued to breathe and remained conscious. A second rope was secured and Chukri Bey was again hoisted to the gallows and hanged.
