THAMES UNION'S AFFAIRS. DECISIONS OF' COMMITTEE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. 7 THAMES, Tuesday." The Thames Rugby Union met last evening, the chairman, Mr. E. Rhodes, presiding. The Hauraki Plains Union accepted June 19 as the date of matches for the Birch Cup and the Johnston Gup. July 24 or August 7 were suggested as suitable dates for the return match at Ngatea. The Northern Steamship Company advised that it was prepared to run an excursion to Auckland on June 28 on the U3ual conditions, the boat leaving Thames at G. 45 a.m. on June 26 and Auckland at 3 p.m. on June 27. The secretary's action in accepting the company's terms was endorsed. Club matches for next Saturday are:—Senior grade: Old Boys v. Ramblers, Wharepoa, 2.45 p.m., Mr. H. G. Brownlee; City v. Physical 'Training, No. 1 ground, 3 p.m., Mr. G. Buchan. Second grade: Old Boys v. Ramblers, No 2, 1.45 p.m.. Mr. E. Griffin. Third grade: High School v. City, No. 3. 1.45 p.m., Mr. J. McLean; Physical Training v. Turua, No. 1, 1.40 p.m., Mr. P. Vedder. Fourth grade: High School v. Physical Training, No. 2. 3 p.m., Mr. R. Henderson. Schools: Central v. Country, No. 2, 1 p.m., Mr, H. G. Murray; High School v. Convent, No. 3, 1 p.m., Mr. A. Fleming. THE WAIPA CENTRE. INSTRUCTION OF PLAYERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday. The Waipa Rugby Union has arranged for Brother Calixtus to visit Te Awamutu next Saturday to give instruction in finer points of the game and methods of training to senior and junior representatives. The draw for the Teddy Shield contest* between District High School teanjs at Cam- ; bridge, Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, Te Kuiti and Piopio was made last evening by the Waipa Union. C»mbridge plays Te Awamutu and Te Kuiti plays Piopio. The winners of the latter game play Otorohanga for the right to play the winner of the Cambridge-Te Awamutu match. The final will be played at Te Awamutu. For unfair tactics in a junior grade match a Pirongia player was last evening sua- j pended for four playing Saturdays and was ! severely cautioned by the "Waipa Union. a PRIMARY SCHOOLS MATCH. A match between Ponsonby and Mariat. in the primary schools light-weight competition, was played, at Victoria Park, yesterday. Marist winning by 34 points to 0, The Marist team (rave a fine display, handling the in lively fashion. Five tries were scored by J. Backalich.
