BAD LANGUAGE IN HOUSE.
MAN AND WOMAN CHARGED
COMPLAINTS BY NEIGHBOURS
"That language is worth a month each," said Mr. F K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday when Joseph Moor and Marv Anne Fitzgibbons (Mr. Cahill) pleaded guilty to using obscene language in Grey Street.
Sub-Inspector Lewin said the language was used in a house occupied by the two defendants. Complaints were made by neighbours and a constable was sent and also heard the language. Mr. Cahill said the accused were living togethe.- as man and wife.
The Magistrate: They ought to live on the top of Rangitoto.
"The language was not intended for outside consumption," said Mr. Cahill, in asking that the accused should not be sent to prison. Fines of £3 each, in default seven days' imprisonment, were imposed. "You must excuse me, sir, I am married with a large family," said Samuel Davis, charged with using obscene language in Bedford Street. Accused said he was quarrelling with his wife on a verandah. As the offence occurred at three o'clock in the morning the magistrate convicted and discharged the accused. Two seamen, Jorgen Kristiansen and Nils Gunnar lvar Lundgen, pleaded guilty to absenting themselves from their ship, the Sally Maersk, for two days without lawful excuse. They wore convicted and were each ordered to pay £5 7s,,the costs of their arrest. They were also ordered to be placed on board their ship which was scheduled to sail at noon.
Joseph Hitchins appeared on remand on a chat re of vagrancy. Captain Davis, of the Salvation Array, promised to assist him in finding work, and accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. On a charge of begging in Victoria Road, Devonport, Charles Edward Hills, alias Boyle, aged 37. was similarly dealt, with, on condition that he took out a prohibition order. For a first breach of a prohibition order Thomas Nixo.-i was fined IDs with costs. For damaging a tree in Western Park to the extent of 5s by bres.king a branch, Maurice Metcalfe was lined £1 with costs.
