RECORD FRUIT SEASON.
EXPORTS FROM AUCKLAND. TOTAL OF 55,000 CASES. LAST LOT ON HUNTINGDON. Hie hist of this season's Auckland giown apples to be sent overseas ar being loaded on the steamer Huntingdoi at Prince s Wharf. The consignment i 16,500 boxes, making the total exportei by Auckland growers this year abou 05.000 boxes. This is easily a record, beinj ten times higher than the exports of an' previous season. Last year only 300t boxes were sent overseas. Hie. shipment by the Huntingdon com prises chiefly the Delicious, Dougherty and Stavmen varieties. More could havi been sent, but about- 5000 cases had t( bo shut out for lack of space. Ihe present season has been a splendi( one lor growers, not only in Aucklam Province but throughout the Dominion 111 local orchards growers aro beginninj to reap the fruits of the planting of som years ago and it is expected that a sur plus for export will in future be regular!; available. This season's exports have beei drawn from various centres between Wha ngarei and To Kauwhata, the Huapa growers contributing the largest quot; with 15,000 cases. Other considerabli centres were Henderson, Oratia and Por Albert. The quality throughout has been goo< and very favourable reports have beei niado by the inspectors of the Depart ment of Agriculture.
