BUILDING PERMITS.

. Sir,—On April 21 the Herald published a complaint from the Pukeatua Ratepayers' Association (over my signature as president) anent the increase of building permits fees and inclusion, of farm outbuildings, and the riding member was asked to explain. He has not done so, but Inspector Taylor in yesterday's Herald stated that "no permit is required for any outbuildings " and they are all the one fee afc present." But what about the future ? On March 26 last, the Waitemata County Council passed a resolution providing a new scale of fees for building permits. Before publishing mv_ letter I asked at the county office if the press report which stated that " It is now necessary to take out a building permit for the erection of every structure in the county " was correct, and found that the charges were to be 10s, up to £2.
