TAKAPUNA RIDING ROADS.
Sir, —It is a remarkable thing that the worst-roads in Now Zealand exist--to-day in the Takapuna riding, which comes under the jurisdiction of the, Waitemata County Council. It is all the more remarkable when I understand no less, a .sum than £50,000 has' recently been spent on them (or supposedly so). Yet-in spite of this huge expenditure the roads are in a great many places impassable. A small portion of the roads are metalled but the rest cannot at this time of the year be used by motor traffic.-. With every county and riding 'in New Zealand doing admirable work with roading the results of the efforts of our County Council . * are shameful. Why it it ? Haven't we ■ ratepayers suffered enough ? What has become of the £50,000?' Does the County Council intend to do anything further to enable us to " drive to our homes,?" Fed Up.
