BRIBES FOR THE POLICE. STARTLING ALLEGATIONS, A. and N.Z. ADELAIDE, May 5, Sensational allegations were made before the Royal Commission which is inquiring into the alleged bribing of members cf the police force. A bookmaker stated in evidence that he had bribed 100 policemen. His weekly expense in bribes was £6. Sometimes it amounted to £l2. Witness said he and other bookmakers had previously contributed money to a man who acted as a go-between and" secured immunity for the bookmakers from police interference.
