POLLING ON {SATURDAY. BOTH SIDES CONFIDENT. A. and N.Z. BRISBANE, May 5. The Queensland general election has been fixed for Saturday. After a vigorous campaign both parties express confidence in being able to carry the day. Labour promises include further social benefits such as motherhood endowment and widows' pensions. The combined Progressive and Nationalist Party's programme includes the restoration of the Upper House, which the Labour Party abolished four years ago,. The strength of the parties when Parliament dissolved was: Labour, 43; Country, Progressive and Nationalist Parties, 29.
