WITHDRAWAL DEMANDED.

HOSPITAL BOARD CANDIDATE REQUEST TO MR. HARBUTT. In accordance with a decision of the Papakura Town Board, the clerk has written to Mr. S. J. Harbntt protesting against his standing for re-election to the Auckland Hospital Board as representative of the Manukau County subdivision, and demanding his withdrawal. The ground of this action is that the Kev. W. C. Wood, of Papakura, a, resident within the district, is standing. The town board considers that the time has arrived when the district should be represented by one in personal touch with the ratepayers. "In vie*? of this and in consideration of the support given to you in tho past," states the letter, "the board protests emphatically against your action in involving us in the expense of an election, a.nd strongly urges upon you to reconsider the ma.tter." Mr. Harbutt has represented the district unopposed for 12 years.
