LATE MR. McCOWAN.
A BIRKENHEAD TRIBUTE. The sudden death at Henderson Sunday of Mr. Francis William -.WcCowan, at the age of 50, was referred to with regret at the meeting of the BfrUenhead Borough Council last evening. The Deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. Had Held, stated that during Mr. McCowan's term as a member of the Birkenhead Borough Council, from 1921 to 1923. he had materially assisted' in the advancement of the district, his training and knowledge of engineering being particularly valuable. He was air old resident 'of Birkenhead, and was the first to introduce motor-cars 'there. In 1923 ho went to reside in the city, being, branch man-, ager for Messrs. Clare and Warner,''engineers. He returned to Birkenhead ; a year ago, but. recently took up a fruit "farm at Henderson. Mr. McCowan is survive.d by his wife, one son and one daughter, to whom heartfelt sympathy was extended by the councih
