The Oceanic Steam Navigation Company's famous White Star fleet of Transatlantic passenger liners, including the Majestic, the world's largest ship, may pass under the control of British interests. An offer for the line has been submitted to the International Mercantile Corporation. The transaction would involve approximately a sum of about £7,000,000. It would eventually place the White Star line under the management of the Cunard line, although the .firm of Fuiness, Withy and Company, Limited, is also reported to have made an offer. Final approval of the deal is expected to lie announced next week in London. There, are 23 vessels in the White Star fleet. The largest is the Majestic (56,551 tons), built in 1921. The next largest are the Olympic (46,439 tons), built in 1911; the Homeric (34,556 tons), built in 1922; the Adriatic (24,541 tons), built in 1906; and the Baltic (23,884 tons), built in 1904.
