GOLD NEAR MELBOURNE.
RUSH TO THE LOCALITY. OLD CALEDONIAN REEF. A. and X.z MELBOURNE. April 24 Specimens of rich gold were exhibited 15 years ago by Mr. Edward Holloway. He reported that he had discovered the gold at Warrandyte (Anderson's Creek), about 18 miles east of Melbourne. Within a week Mr. Holloway died without disclossing the whereabouts of his find Exhaustive searches made since then had failed to locate the gold until Tuesday. Three men from Melbourne who had worked throughout the night then announced that they had again discovered the lost reef. They claim that it is a continuation of the lode in the Caledonian mine from which thousands of ounces of gold have been taken. A rush to the locality immediately set in. All the ground in tho vicinity lias now been pegged out, including the.' yard of the police station.
