SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
THE ANNUAL ELECTIONS. ADDITIONAL NOMINATIONS. Nominations for school committees closed last Monday and the election will be held next Monday evening. Many of the old committees have been returned unopposed. Returns already received are as follow: Maungawhau.—This is the first time a committee has been nominated, the school previously being under the Mount Eden School Committee. The following 19 nominations have been received for the nine seats:—Messrs. W. T. Evans, W. G. Lange, J. Mars, G. E. Spooner, J. G. Turner, H. C'. Mutton, H.' C. Chapman, R. J. Mills A. Aitken, D. H. Thomas, L. Stevens, R. D. Cowie, H. R. Creber, J. L. Aikman, J. S. Brown, R. J. N. Crosby, A. G. Mackenzie, J. M. Melville and Mrs. E. D. Mueller. The first five candidates and Mrs. E. D. Mueller arc retiring members of the Mount Eden School Committee. Newton.—Eighteen nominations were received, as follow: Messrs. J. Baird, J. Blair, F. W. H. Brinsden. A. Davie, Rev. T. Halliday, G. Kerr. W. J. McDonnell, W. Mills, C. S. Morris, D. Bradley, H. D. Carlsen, J. Dutton. H. J. Fox, G. Laing, W. E. Mincham. J. Taberner, and Mesdames S. Keats and L. Taberner. Devonport. Nine nominations, the required number, have been received as follow :—Messrs. J. K. Hartv, D. H. C. Bennett, T-. E. Gooding, A. L. Jones, T. C. Farquharson, J. R. George, F. W. Beck, L. C. H. Dawson and F. Mortimer. Birkenhead No election is necessirv, the following nine nominations having been received: —Messrs. R. 0. White, W. C. Uttir.g, R. E. Walker, A. Wrightson, E. Swindail, A. Speed, J. W. Canty, A. Maearthur and J. Paltridge. Northcote. Only three nominations have been received, as follow: —Mrs. A. Taylor, Messrs. F. J. Maxwell and E. W. B. Herrick. The procedure is for the Education Board to appoint the remainder necessary to make the full complement of nine. A recommendation from a householders' meeting, of six m,mes to fill the vacancies, would probably bo adopted Onehunga.—This is the first time that Onehunga and Te Pnpapa have oeen represented by separate commuters. Ten nominations have been received a?. :ollow:—Messrs. C. E. Goode, A. Thompson, J. Ballard, H. Strong, R. A. Jv-k----son, P. Lipscombe, W. Howard, W. Collidge, N. McDougal and Mrs. Fieldsend. Royal Oak. —The required number have been nominated, so that there will be no election The committee will comprise: Messrs. E. H. Glover. R. H. Insull, T. S. Lamont, A. J. Pople, S. Vella (old members), B. C. Blakev. H. V. Bond, F. P. Hewitt, V. Potter (new members). Ellerslie.—The following are elected unopposed : —Messrs. W. G. Bartlett, J. Clark, J. M. Crosher, E. G. lickett, A. Ferguson. A. Hewson. H. .T. Higham, A. E. Hughes and A. E. Thomson. Mr. Higham fills the place of a retiring member. Takapuna.—Thirteen nominations have been received, including the nine members of the old committee. The names are: —Messrs. F. Baecliniann, 11. T. BellBooth, J. Collins, T. Hanna, W. Lisk, E. P. Fenwick, ,J. R. Penning, D. Lusby, R. O. Phillips, A. A. Rappard, A. H. Slmw and Mesdames A. Blomfiehl and F. W. Litt, Papahura.—An election will not be necessary, as only nine nominations were received. The new members are: The Rev. W. C. Wood. Messrs. J. Rea, R. H. Mays, H. H. Muir. G. H. Kernat, J. E. Cain, W. K. Francis, W. G. Markewick, A. L. Turner. Whitiora.—The following have been elected unopposed:—Messrs. J. N. Irvine, W. F. Choate, M. A. Gall, J. D. Cann, 0. R. Bradley, C. W. Wycherley. Carrick Nisbet, H. Cracknell and J. H. Gittos. Hamilton East. —The following have been elected unopposed:—Messrs. P. P. Bvnon Powell, F. Pickup. E. A. Butt. E. L. Watkins, IT. M. Baker. .J. Callapher. R. H. Gower, C. R. B. Speight and E. J. Watkins. Te Awamutu. —Messrs. G. S- Clarke, .T F. Brooks, A. A. Reese, A. Cullum. R. I. Fox, C. W. Rickit, R. Ross, G. T. Smith, A. J. Tailbv, A. Weatherell, E. T. Crump. Raetihi. —The following have been elected'.—Mesdames Ashwell (chair) and Jennings, Messrs. Dudding, L. Fagg, Willoughbv, Phyn, Gosnell and G. Parkes.
