YOUTHS IN A MOTOR.VAN.

An escapade in a motor delivery van resulted in five youths appearing in the Matamata Court on charges of unlawfully converting the vehicle to their own use. Constable Heeps stated that on a recent Sunday the boys, at the instigation of one of their number, Harry Robinson (19), employed by Mr. S. August, of Waharoa, the owner of the van, took possession of the motor. They went first to Okauia and then drove to Turanga-o-Moana. Hungahunga and Wardville. The, matter Was serious, inasmuch as £l5O worth of property might, have been damaged, Or injurv to other travellers might have occurred, as the boys Would no doubt be reckless. One youth was aged 19 attd the others were aged 16. Each youth was fined £2, and each bad to pay a sjiarc of the damage, amounting to £6 10s.
