CHILD WELFARE ACT

NEW LAW IN OPERATION. The new Child Welfare Act came into force on Thursday, but the regulations have not yet been gazetted. It is announced that Mr. J. Beck, oilicer-in-charge of the special schools branch, will be superintendent for the Dominion, and Mr. J. 11. McClime, assistanst-oflicer-in-ehargo of the special schools branch, will be deputy-superintendent.
