Moody), appeared for sentence in the Police Court yesterday on three charges of stealing sums aggregating £46 8s lOd from his employers, the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company. Mr. Moody said the week accused had spent on remand at the gaol had been a great shock to him. His father would employ him if he could be given a chance to rehabilitate himself. Mr. Hunt : He cannot get probation. I owe a duty to the community, Young men in responsible positions must not think they can expect probation when they are caught. He was receiving £3OO a year, yet he committed theft. There are suppressed letters and a forged cable. I do not say accused burned the books but it has been done. It is a gross case of robbing his employers. The report discloses that he has been living a fast life. Accused was sentenced to six months imprisonment, to bo followed by two years' probation.
