EMPLOYERS ROBBED.
iNSURANCE CLERK'S THEFTS. SIX MONTHS IN PRISON. SEQUEL TO A " FAST LIFE." " He has' no redeeming features." said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when James Robert Nipper, aged 26 (Mr. A. Moody), appeared for sentence in the Police Court yesterday on three charges of stealing sums aggregating £46 8s lOd from his employers, the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company. Mr. Moody said the week accused had spent on remand at the gaol had been a great shock to him. His father would employ him if he could be given a chance to rehabilitate himself. Mr. Hunt : He cannot get probation. I owe a duty to the community, Young men in responsible positions must not think they can expect probation when they are caught. He was receiving £3OO a year, yet he committed theft. There are suppressed letters and a forged cable. I do not say accused burned the books but it has been done. It is a gross case of robbing his employers. The report discloses that he has been living a fast life. Accused was sentenced to six months imprisonment, to bo followed by two years' probation.
