THREE ACCIDENTS.
SCHOOLBOY'S LEG BROKEN.
SULKY AND MOTOR MISHAPS. •; v. While practising the high jump in the school playground at Curran Street, Ponsonby, yesterday morning, a pupil, Philip Collinson, aged 14, residing at 21, Sarsfield Street, fell heavily and sustained a broken leg. He was removed to the hospital and was reported last evening to be making satisfactory progress. Owing to the stumbling of a horse in a Bulky being driven along Onewa Raod, Ncrthcote, yesterday, Mr. J.: M. Cassie, chief engineer at the Chelsea Sugar Works, and Mr. J, T. Alley, laboratory assistant, were thrown heavily. The accident occurred near the Church' Street intersection. Mr. Cassie received a severe cut near the left elbow, and a further cut on the left knee, which, necessitated several stitches. Mr. Alley sustained a sprained ankle. A collision occurred yesterday afternoon between two motor-cars, one driven by Mrs. M. Whale, of Qtahuhu, the oth«> by Mr. W. McCarthy, of Avondale, afy the corner of Princes Street and Great South Roads, Otahuhu. The cars met practically head on and both sustained considerable damage. The radiator of the car driven by Mrs. Wbalo was driven in on to the engine, the running board stripped and windscreen smashed, while the ca» driven by Mr. McCarthy had its axle bent, the right wheel being driven right into the bonnet. The radiator ant? running board were bent and the lamps smashed. No injury was sustained by either of the drivers. A baby and a lady in Mrs. Whale's car sustained some cuts on the face from the broken pieces of glass from the windscreen.
