INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP.

PROGRESS DURING THE YEAR.

The annual meeting of the Auckland Unitarian Church was held this week, Mr. G; Tomlinson prosiding over a large attendance. ; The financial statement showed an improvement- upon recent years. The committee, in its report, noted a marked increase in the membership roll, and a rise in the average attendance at service. Over 60 new members were admitted, and, allowing for deaths and removals, the roll showed a net gain of 45, a record for any single year since the inception of the church. . , The .'Rev. A. Thornhill gave an interesting account of his tour over 2000 miles of New, Zealand territory during which he had paid pastoral calls upon isolated church members. ■ The paid, a warm tribute to the pastoral Vzeal and public service of their minister, and said it had long been felt .ho was, not adequately remunerated for his services. Upon the recommendation of thejcommittee, it. was decided to increase' the minister s stipend.
